Eric Chevrier
Eric began coaching lacrosse in his early twenties in Moose Jaw, driven simply by a desire to give back to the lacrosse community and support the game he loved. After taking some time away from the game, Eric found his way back to the bench when his stepson began playing. Since then, he has remained actively involved in the sport and has continued to grow his coaching experience at multiple levels.
Eric’s coaching philosophy extends far beyond teaching the technical aspects of lacrosse. He believes sport is an opportunity to help young athletes become good people first, emphasizing the importance of respect, effort, and attitude in everything they do. He strives to create a positive and supportive environment where players feel encouraged to learn, grow and develop confidence both on and off the floor. Known for his calm and encouraging approach, Eric believes that respect is earned through support, communication and consistency. A strong believer in long term athlete development, he feels that every player will improve with time, repetition and opportunities to keep a stick in their hands as much as possible.
One of Eric’s biggest focuses as a coach is the mental side of the game. He believes that “life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it”, a mindset that ties directly back to the values he teaches through lacrosse.
Reflecting on the coaches who shaped his own life, he recognizes the lasting impact they had on him both as an athlete and a person. Through lacrosse, he learned how to be a teammate, a leader, how to handle adversity, and how to grow through both victories and setbacks. His goal is to provide that same positive influence on the athletes he coaches, believing that if he can make a meaningful impact on even one player’s life, that is a success in itself.
